After choosing a contemporary typeface at random, I designed a print type specimen that is kept in a folded state. The design prompt required that the specimen be double-sided, folded twice, and feature no more than two print colors. The specimen was also required to show the typeface being used at a variety of scales, weights, and text lengths.
This foldable print type specimen displays Sol Matas’s typeface “Bitter”. Printed on a cool gray, 24 pound bond paper, this multi-functional piece shows the details of the typeface as well as how it performs for long-form typesetting. Featuring only two print colors, this simple piece can perform as both a booklet or double-sided poster.
